Dressed in a checkered shirt, a brown jacket and holding a white polythene bag, a smiling Besigye was escorted by counter terrorism police personnel.
We understand that he will be charged with murder in relation to the death of Edison Nasasira, an FDC supporter, who was killed during a stampede at Rukungiri stadium last week.
A postmortem report showed that Nasasira was killed by a bullet although police insists that he was hit by a stone.
On Tuesday evening, Besigye was driven from Naggalama police to Mbarara police head quarters where he spent a night and three others and today early morning were driven to Rukungiri.
Besigye and four other FDC officials, had been at Naggalama prison since Thursday following his arrest while he was headed to Kabale district.
Others are; FDC secretary for Mobilization, Ingrid Turinawe, FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat and Rukungiri district councillor, Innocent Tashobya.
The four were driven in evening from Naggalama Police station after Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago had filed a case in Nakifuma chief magistrate to force police to release them.
