Mukono municipality leadership has come up with a new regulation to combat excessive noise in town coming from open bars, disco takes and promotional drives.
Municipality mayor George Fred Kagimu has already deployed a team tasked to come up with clear guide lines to make this effective beginning next month.
Kagimu says they’ve received quite a number of complaints from educational institutions like Uganda Christian University and Health institutions complaining about excessive noise which inconvenience businesses.
With effect from 1st/ July no noise will be tolerated around University premises, at Health centers and churches among other places considered vulnerable with this practice.
Churches and mosques will not be allowed to keep noise high even during over night prayers past mid night.
It has been an habit in Mukono town starting on Tuesday when vehicles advertising happening places make loud sounds which affect businesses.
They usually target Kampala – Jinja highway and areas sheltering university students with aim of attracting their attention.
