MUKONO residents have you ever thought about what your community would look like without litter? If so it may take a while to find out.
A person throwing garbage around the environment may not think much of it, but it can be deadly.
For example,The garbage that Nakifuma market Vendors, Traders and locals litter around and behind the Shops of high-way to Kayunga more all over near Health Centre III end up into wards of the hospital where Patients are catered for.
Although Littering has provided an opportunity to some locals whocollect garbage for cash but its Economic implications to our Economy is far reaching.
This is because Mukono district Local Government through Nakifuma town board wastes money in keeping this Trading Centre where they sell Muchomo-Muchomo and Gonja clean but in long run Water and Environment are polluted.
If littering is not stopped, more money will be wasted, more things will be damaged and innocent people’s lives could be affected and lost.
Imagine someone is roasting a chicken, Gonja, Maize at the same time is smoking cigarette at the end the mixture of the two smokes gets blown onto a neighbor and By-passers who consumes it in an improper way.
The neighbor could become seriously sick because of someone else’s laziness, another reason why if all this littering could be disposed of properly, Mukono Local Government would have much money put towards other important things.
It is obvious people who litter don’t understand the harmful effect of their cause, what most people don’t know is that litter can be a serious fire hazard.
If you litter, you affect your Community, all your friends and families making your Environment to look worse.
If you don’t litter, there wouldn’t be billions of shillings spent on litter cleanup after getting it in form of taxes collected and you
wouldn’t have to worry about harming an innocent persons and animals.
Be a hero and a responsible citizen by a shaming and naming the culprits involved in littering our district, ending littering needs a collective role being played by everyone in the society, although it’s not enforced littering is illegal, if people would obey the law, there wouldn’t be an issue.
