Primary school teachers in Mukono are demanding district officials to explain to them who swindle their salaries.
Some of the teachers from Kyampisi sub county Mukono district alleges that sometimes they get half pay and others get their salaries in the middle of new month.
According to head teacher of Kyambakadde R/C Primary Ronald Ssentamu allege that his monthly salary is deducted by one hundred and twenty thousand illegally.
Ssentamu says that he went in the bank to withdraw money to pay school fees for his children unfortunately he found when his salary has been deducted without explanation from district officials.
Immaculate Zawedde a teacher at St Kizito Namasumbi R/C Primary School says that their children are chased out of schools because of not paying schools as a result of delayed payments of their salaries.
Zawedde says that they cannot settle in class and teach pupils when her children are seated at home because of not being able to pay schools for them.
They are demanding district officials to explain to them why there is a reduction and salary delays which is not a case in neighboring districts of Luweero, Kayunga and Wakiso.
Fred Musonge who heads education committee of Mukono district local government apologized of what has been happening to their salaries and promised to rectify it.
He asked them not to use this excuse of delayed salaries to abandon teaching pupils.
Musonge told them that its their obligation and mandate to make sure that these pupils to get better education in order to have a bright future.
Government workers often receive their salaries on 28th of every month.
